Laura Diogo-Simpson, MA
Laura Diogo-Simpson is the Founder and Clinical Director of Educational & Therapeutic Services, with over 12 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental and behavioral challenges. She completed her studies in Clinical Psychology at the Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2005. Shortly after, she moved to the United States to study Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), earning a second master’s degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2011. In 2012, she obtained her certification as a Behavior Analyst.
Laura specializes in creating individualized treatment plans that promote positive behavior change. She has worked extensively with a diverse range of populations in group homes, serving individuals aged 2 to 70. Her passion for early intervention drives her work with neurodivergent children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in home, school, and clinic settings. She is highly skilled in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and designing evidence-based behavior intervention plans that address communication, social skills, and adaptive behaviors, always considering child assent in any intervention.
Her approach is rooted in evidence-based practices of ABA, with an emphasis on positive reinforcement and skill acquisition. Laura strives to empower children and their families by creating supportive and collaborative treatment environments. In addition to her clinical work, she trains new therapists and presents workshops for educators and parents on managing challenging behaviors. During the pandemic, she was a pioneer in initiating telehealth services for her clients.
Laura is dedicated to helping individuals lead more independent and fulfilling lives and is committed to ongoing professional development to stay at the forefront of her field. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys volunteering with organizations such as the International Rotary Club and the Nyingma Institute, founded by Tartang Tulku, whom she deeply admires.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions during the pandemic, Laura was honored as a distinguished member of the Trademark Women of Distinction Honors Edition in 2021, celebrated for her dedication, resilience, and impact in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.
