Before Starting

If you are interested in registering for services through the ETS Center please follow the steps outlined below. If you get lost or need help completing any of the steps please contact the ETS Center for assistance.

Contact your insurance provider and ask about your autism benefits policy. Many providers will cover at least a portion of the services we provide.

Complete a referral form or contact ETS Center at (510) 688 8166. Once we know a position is available we will schedule an initial tour for you and your family. At this time we will also go over any intake paper work and insurance requirements.

If you have an autism benefit, we will work with your insurance provider to receive authorization for services and coordinate your child’s schedule.

As soon as we receive authorization for service we will have you complete our intake packet and return it on your first day with any additional required documentation.

Getting Started Week 1:

During the first week of sessions a behavioral assessment will be conducted to identify your child’s specific areas of strengths and weaknesses. For most clients, we use the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program. The VB-MAPP breaks language and related skills down into 16 different skill areas (or domains) including expressive language, listener responding, visual perceptual and match to sample skills, motor skills, and social skills. By assessing the occurrence of these skills under various circumstances (functions) a more effective and individualized intervention program that directly targets your child’s primary needs can be developed. The VB-MAPP will also provide an analysis of barriers that are affecting your child’s ability to learn such as non-compliance, aggressive behaviors, and tantruming.

Week 2:

During the second week of sessions, the results from your child’s initial assessment will be used to develop an individualized treatment plan that focuses on your child’s specific needs. Staff will then be trained to implement this intervention in a one on one format.

Week 3 onward:

Your child’s progress will be monitored and reviewed on a daily basis. Adjustments will be made frequently to your child’s treatment plan in order to optimize their learning. Programming will be reviewed with the parent at least once a month and a re-evaluation of your child’s skill set will be conducted once every six months to track progress. All services are either provided or supervised by a board certified behavior analyst.
